Bio

Chengqing Zong received his Ph.D. degree from the Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), in March 1998. From May 1998 to April 2000, he worked at the National Laboratory of Pattern Recognition (NLPR), Institute of Automation, CAS, as a post-doctor research fellow, and he has been working in NLPR since finishing his post-doctoral program. Now he is a professor. In 1999 and 2001, Dr. Zong twice worked in the Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute International (ATR) of Japan, as a guest researcher. In 2004, he visited CLIPS-IMAG, France, as a visiting scholar.
His research focuses on machine translation, human-computer dialogue system, and other related areas of natural language processing. As a principal investigator he has been taking charge of more than 10 projects, including the Natural Science Foundation projects of China, the High-Tech. Program (“863”) projects of China, the project supported by the National Key Research and Development Program of China, and also some projects in international cooperation. He has published more than 200 papers in high quality journals and international conferences. He authored a book named as Statistical Natural Language Processing , which was published by Tsinghua University Press and has been printed ten times. This book is widely used in great China. He is a member of International Committee on Computational Linguistics (ICCL) and the vice president of Asian Federation on Natural Language Processing (AFNLP). He is also the vice president of the Society of Chinese Information Processing of China and a standing member of the Chinese Association of Artificial Intelligence as well. He serves on the journals ACM Transactions on Asian and Low-Resource Language Information Processing (TALLIP) as Associate Editor, and IEEE Intelligent Systems , Machine Translation as a member of editorial board. He was Chair of ACL-SIGHAN (2014 − 2015) and served many top-tier international conferences, such as COLING'2010 as organization committte co-chair, ACL-IJCNLP'2015 as program co-chair, IJCAI'2017 and IJCAI-ECAI'2018 as area chair, and also AAAI'2019 as area chair as well.
